Third Annual North Beach ArtWalk

September 25 - 26, 2010

Visual artists, poets, musicians, performers: This is your chance to show your work to local, Bay Area, and international visitors, in your own North Beach studio or a local business.

A bigger and better ArtWalk for 2010 with:

  • A printed and online map that identifies all registered artists and merchants, including your name, art form, venue, and website/contact info
  • A website that lists all participating artists and merchants
  • An ArtWalk "passport" that will reward visitors to many venues with special offers from participating merchants
  • A chance to present your art or performance on Saturday evening
  • Music in Jack Kerouac Alley on Sunday
  • A public space showing work from all participating artists, open both days
  • A preview party for all participating artists and merchants on Friday night
  • Bay Area and international promotion

Ways to participate:

  • Showcase your work in a North Beach venue
  • Register so you can be listed on the ArtWalk map and website
  • Plan a special event or performance for Saturday evening
  • Musicians: perform in Kerouac Alley on Sunday

Choosing your venue:

  • You can present your work or event in your own studio or garage, a gallery, or on the sidewalk!
  • If you'd like to have your artform showcased in a neighborhood business, contact a merchant directly, or see the continually updated list of participating businesses (coming soon) and make arrangements with the merchant.

Saturday evening events

  • If you're a musician, poet, or other performer and would like to have a Saturday evening event, check that the venue you're interested in is open at that time and willing. Then let us know and we'll specify on the map.

Local businesses and merchants: North Beach ArtWalk is an excellent way to increase foot traffic to your space and generate additional interest in your business while you support the vibrant North Beach arts community.

ArtWalk will also be promoted around the Bay Area and internationally.

You can participate by:

  • Being listed on the ArtWalk map and website
    • For $25, your business will be featured on the official website and printed event map, which is handed out to hundreds of locals and visitors to the neighborhood.
    • Registration includes the Friday night preview party for all participating artists and merchants.
  • Offering space to an artist, performer, poet, or musician for the weekend
    • Artists will contact you directly to make arrangements.
    • If you are open on Saturday evening and willing to host an artist or performer then, be sure to let us know on your application.
  • Offering special discounts or items through the passport
    • Visitors will get a stamp or sign-off at each venue they go to. Offering a special such as a free cappucino or reduced-price item for those with a certain number of stamps (say, 10) will lead visitors to your business.
  • Becoming a sponsor of North Beach ArtWalk 2010
    • $100 - $249 will highlight your business in color on the map.
    • $250 - $499 will include your logo with your color map listing.
    • $500 - $999 will list your business name on the ArtWalk poster.
    • $1000 or more will include your logo and business name on all Artwalk publicity.
    • To become a sponsor or for more details on sponsorship, email Julie at art&culture@thd.org. Vesuvio, the North Beach Merchants Association, and the Hotel des Arts have already signed on as sponsors of ArtWalk.
